The island appeared by a crack on the earth 30 million years ago. The magma found its way out and it appeared a group of vulcanos at the Atlantic bottom of the sea outside Aricans northwest coast. Over the next 28 millions the vulcanos continued to give out matter til all the islands (except El Hierro and the small islands) had come above the surface and formed of what today is known as the "Canary Islands." Canary Islands is an island group that consists of 7 main islands and 6 smaller.
The 7 islands, from biggest to the smallest:

+ Gran Canaria
+ Lanzarote
+ La Palma
+ La Gomera
+ El Hierro
Tenerife is the biggest of them and there you can find the capital city San Jose. Good atmospherea and things are very "tranquilo". There are different reasons that the Canary Islands is such a popular tourist attraction. Like the weather, the good attitude the cizitens have towards tourists, the history, and the tourist attractions, to name a few. El Teide destination:

Puerto Dde La Cru (28 hotels)
Puerto De La Cruz is a charming town in the beautiful Orotava valley. Her one swims in great ocean pools made by the Cesar Manrique.
Santa Cruz
Great shopping options, taverns and great for those who want to have a vacation mixed with beach life and city life. This town was mad by Alonso Fernande after 1496.
